We’ll be featuring new photographers who harness the advantages of connected technology to tell their stories. Our first MPN feature is with Daniel Arnold, an incredible street photographer from Brooklyn. Arnold talks to us about the natural advantages of shooting mobile when searching for moments of awkwardness on the streets of New York.
We’re also focused on getting mobile photographers and photography into real world exhibitions and festivals. On this note, we’re kicking off with the Backyard Open Call in partnership with Head On Photo Festival based in Sydney, Australia. This is an a wonderful opportunity to bring exceptional, curated mobile photography into a world class international photography festival. We’ve chosen the Backyard theme for two reasons: One, because it responds to the physical location of the exhibition (the Superintendent’s Premises in Sydney’s backyard – Centennial Gardens). Two, because it highlights how mobile phone technology has opened up our lives and enabled us to visually share our once private worlds. Submissions can be made through the Backyard Submission Form. Submissions are now open and close Midnight Sunday 28 April.
The News section will highlight new developments in mobile photography while the Opinion section will focus on how these new forms of photographic integration and connectivity are changing photography.
Above all we want to you to tell us (and show us) what you think is important in within mobile photography. You can do this through the Submit your Photos and Forum sections or you can always email us directly on [email protected].
Cheers,
Misho Baranovic
